Friday Feature: The Rodriguez Family and the “Milk Manager”
How blessed am I to meet new families through Shine? During some of their most vulnerable times, families are allowing me into their homes—-a private, intimate space. I do not take it lightly when trusted by a family. I told Steve on my way to meet with this special family for one of the last times, “I think I might cry”.
This family feature is such a fun one! Everyone, and I mean everyone was on board caring for this sweet little guy as he made his way into this world a few weeks early. A few weeks early in the breastfeeding world most likely means there could be some challenges as babies are still growing and gaining strength. Both mom and dad were willing to do whatever it took to give baby Miles whatever he needed to thrive into the beautiful 2 month old baby he is today! We worked through some challenges and celebrated some huge wins!
Dad was INVESTED and coined himself the “Manager of Milk”. I loved it and knew we were going to have to document that somewhere! Fortunately, he was given some time off from work to be home and took on a huge supportive role—washing pump parts, warming bottles, changing diapers, and keeping everyone on schedule. As you can see, baby Miles has a big sister. Her name is Lydia and oh my goodness, her big, beautiful brown eyes will melt you. She too has learned so much as she observed the breastfeeding and pumping— and even gets to give a bottle every once in awhile. I have learned she loves the color pink, chocolate, and Minnie Mouse.
Miles is growing and thriving as a 2 month old! Thank you Rodriguez family for connecting with me through Shine Lactation + Postpartum Support and letting me share about your special family.
