National Breastfeeding Month Celebration 2024 {Part 1}
August is National Breastfeeding Month! Here at Shine, breastfeeding is a pretty big deal—OBVIOUSLY! Each year I love to come up with different ways to celebrate. You’ve seen my breastfeeding themed cookies, right? The “Milky Way” candy bars are usually on display, as well as “Milk Duds”, boobie cupcakes—and the list goes on. This year, Sara, from SJ Nuzum Photography and I teamed up to recognize and love on some breastfeeding mamas and babies choosing 6 winners for an Elegance and Empowerment pampering event. Sara is the amazing photographer who has a HUGE passion for moms and babies which is showcased so beautifully on her website. Check her out if you are looking for someone to capture these beautiful moments in your life!
Sara was also excited about celebrating National Breastfeeding Month and together we created an event for breastfeeding moms and their babies. We wanted it to be an afternoon of pampering in preparation for beautiful photos they could treasure of their breastfeeding journey. I believe Sara captured some amazing photos and I can’t wait for these moms to see them!
Six moms and 7 babies were chosen—yes, that means we had a set of twins!
Planning and hosting events brings me such joy! This weekend was very special as my daughter’s marriage proposal happened the night before. Little did she know, the flowers, food, dishes used, etc had a dual purpose for the weekend—which worked out perfectly.
I have been asked for some of the details from both parties and will do my best to link some of my favorite things I used as well as feature the vendors and creatives. See above for links to some of my favorites I used for both celebrations.
First, let’s have a moment for the beautiful flowers my friend, Rozann, grew and cut for me. If you have followed along, she is who I call my own personal flower farmer. She is much more to me than that, however, as she and I have worked together for the last 28 years. A phenomenal labor and delivery nurse first and foremost (appropriate for my clientele, right?)—and just recently has followed her dream and passion of growing flowers as she developed her small (for now) business, Landing View Acres. Rozann is local to Hutchinson and worth checking out for all of your floral needs. And if you’re expecting a baby and delivering at Hutchinson Regional, you may just get lucky enough to be one of her patients!

No party is complete without some themed cookies and Coneflower Cookie Co. is my go to for cookies that not only look beautiful, but taste delicious. Shaina did not disappoint as she provided cookies for our engagement party as well as our event for breastfeeding moms.
