Friday Feature: Virtual Visits
Can I really help you virtually? Yes! I offer virtual consultations for those who would prefer me to see them via a “zoom call” type model. Virtual consultations are a secured Tele-health visit with me which will look very similar to if I were sitting there in your home with you and your baby.
What might a virtual visit look like? Most often, it is a breastfeeding mom and her baby during a feeding with a camera either by phone or webcam placed in whatever way you would like for me to observe a feeding. Keep in mind, this is a secured session through my charting system and can not be accessed by anyone but the lactation provider–which is me! Your visit may look different depending on the questions you may have regarding your needs–maybe the baby is latching on great, but “pops off” and requires relatching. Maybe you are having discomfort with your latch and it is a simple positioning tweak that I may notice. Also–it could be that things are going well and you just have questions you need to talk through.
A common situation where families may choose a virtual visit over an in-person visit is when breastfeeding is going well, but there are questions about a pumping schedule, bottle feeding, and/or going back to work. This is a very simple way to work directly with me on all of the questions that come with this transitional period for working moms.
Prenatal breastfeeding education (BEFORE baby is born) is also available through a virtual consultation where you will receive one on one instruction from me coaching you in what I believe to be the most important information for you to know before going to the hospital. Time is set aside to answer all of your questions you have as well.
In-person visits are my absolute favorite because I get to love on your sweet baby! However, I am committed to offering other ways to access breastfeeding support and this could be one that works best for you!
