Lessons with Lolli
Meet Lolli. My most favorite business purchase ever.
As I began dreaming of what I wanted Shine to become, I knew I needed a “hands-on” learning tool to help moms with utilizing some of the most important techniques in latch and positioning of their babies. As I began my search for a “breastfeeding” teaching doll, I was frequently directed to the Gledita shop on Etsy. After personalizing all of the different components I wanted in a breastfeeding aid, she then needed to be named…
My girls will cringe at this, but I feel like you all need the story behind the name, Lolli. First of all, it wasn’t even a question what her name would be. In fact, it was really the only thing I knew for sure as I designed this special doll. Shine Lactation + Postpartum Support was ALMOST Lolli Lactation.
A couple of years ago, I told my kids that when I’m a grandma, I want my grandbabies to call me Lolli. A few eye rolls into the conversation and one asked “so what would we call Dad?”.
POP, of course!!! Lolli and Pop! Cue even more eye rolls, a couple of “absolutely nots”, and you get the idea. I’m not giving up on this grandparent naming initiative! So when dreaming about this business, Lolli Lactation just seemed to make sense. However, when I would run it by some of those closest to me, it was not getting the same response as Shine Lactation. I also discovered after a quick google search that I wasn’t the only one who thought using the name Lolli in a lactation business was a good idea! See?
Lolli became the name of the doll that I hope to use to help moms and families learn from. I am excited to introduce Lolli’s Lessons into the world of breastfeeding teaching. And Latch and Learn with Lolli is the perfect name for the prenatal lactation consults we are offering!
I’m so eager to present all that can be taught with Lolli and look forward to bringing you as much educational content as possible.
I am not giving up on the idea of Lolli and Pop someday, not in the very near future, right kids?
*** Lolli is weighted and feels the most like a newborn than any other doll I’ve ever held.
Let me know if you want to come hold her!!
